Zarys fabuły
Bohaterami serialu są dwaj bracia Alphonse i Edward, synowie utalentowanego alchemika. Niestety, ich szczęście nie trwało długo. Po odejściu ojca bracia pozostali jedynie z matką. Kiedy ta umarła młodzi adepci alchemii zrobili coś, czego robić nie powinni - nie pomni praw rządzących alchemią usiłowali użyć jej na człowieku. Konsekwencje tego czynu były straszne. W wypadku Alphonse stracił ciało i tylko cudem jego bratu udało się zatrzymać jego duszę w stojącej w pobliżu zbroi. Z kolei Edward stracił rękę i nogę. Serial opowiada historię braci, którzy wyruszają w podróż z zamiarem odzyskania swoich dawnych ciał.
